MANILA, Philippines – The year is coming to an end and there are many things that we should be thankful for.

It could be the small things like hearing “good job” from your boss, or landing your dream job. Maybe your year was extra special because of an epic weekend with family or friends; having the best summer traveling to different places; discovering new food and hangout spots; or meeting new friends.

Many international artists came to the Philippines this year – Rihanna, Sugar Ray, One Republic, Gin Blossoms are just some of them – and for sure you’ve crossed out some highly-anticipated acts off your bucket list.

How about the theatrical productions that made your weeknights more memorable? Getting in touch with your “cultural” side isn’t just about visiting museums and galleries. 2013 was actually the busiest year for the theater industry and there’s definitely more to come next year.

We’ve also had new malls and stores – and that means new shopping destinations for the new year, so better start saving up for a lot more shopping. Also, prepare yourselves for more restaurants and food crazes to satisfy your appetite, just like how the ramen and katsu craze took us by storm.

On top of all of this, 2013 was the year we again witnessed the Filipino spirit staying strong despite seemingly insurmountable challenges. We’ve also had our fair share of victories this year, like the Philippines winning its first ever Miss World title, and Manny Pacquiao bringing pride and glory to our country when we needed it the most. 

Let’s make the coming year even better, welcoming 2014 by celebrating 2013. Let’s celebrate because we have a new year to make new memories with our loved ones. We have another year to have new experiences, try new food, and go to new places.
