MANILA, Philippines – Arguably, the fastest and most affordable way to get out of town is still to take the bus. 

You don’t need to worry about paying for gas, toll, having comfy seats, or schedules. For example, in Cubao’s bus alley, there are hourly bus trips to Baguio or Quezon province that can enable you to spend a weekend somewhere else on a whim – all for a few hundred pesos.

But during peak travel seasons (summers, holidays) things can get more difficult. Lines are longer, tickets may run out faster, and you’d have less chance of getting that coveted middle row window seat. Pickpockets also tend to get busy around this time, too.
