Iloilo City reroutes traffic for August 25 charter day parade

This is a press release from the City of Iloilo. 

ILOILO, Philippines – The City of Iloilo will be celebrating its 78th Charter Day anniversary on Tuesday, August 25, with a parade.

Below is the traffic re-routing plan for the parade. Traffic closes at 6 am, as festivities begin at 7:30 am. 

Parade route

From their assembly area at Bonifacio Drive front of Tourism passing F. Caram Avenue to JM Basa / Freedom Grandstand.

Traffic re-routing

1. JARO CPU / JARO LIKO / NFA / TAGBAK / UNGKA PUJ’s

All JARO CPU / JARO LIKO / NFA / TAGBAK / UNGKA PUJ’s coming from the direction of JARO AREA shall pass E. LOPEZ towards LUNA/ GAISANO CITY turn left to HUERVANA and turn left to RIZAL LAPAZ PUBLIC MARKET where they can LOAD / UNLOAD their passengers. And in going back, shall pass LUNA ST. their normal route straight towards E. LOPEZ to their place of origin.

2. LAPAZ PUJ’s

All LAPAZ PUJ’s coming from HUERVANA STREET turn left at RIZAL STREET, LAPAZ turn right DRILON BRIDGE to MUELLE LONEY up to the back of PROVINCIAL CAPITOL where they can load and unload their passengers. And in going back, shall turn left at QUIRINO BRIDGE turn left RIZAL LAPUZ up to RIZAL LAPAZ and turn right to HUERVANA and pass to their normal/usual route towards their place of origin.

3. BO. OBRERO / LAPUZ PUJ’s

All BO. OBRERO and LAPUZ PUJ’s coming from JALANDONI LAPUZ shall turn right RIZAL LAPUZ up to RIZAL, LAPAZ turn left to DRILON BRIDGE to MUELLE LONEY up to the back of PROVINCIAL CAPITOL where they can LOAD / UNLOAD their passengers. And in going back shall turn left at QUIRINO BRIDGE turn right to RIZAL, LAPUZ and pass their normal and usual route and back to their place of origin.

4. BALUARTE DERECHO / SM CITY HIGH PUJ’s

All BALUARTE DERECHO / SM ARRASTRE PUJ’s coming from the direction of GENERAL LUNA shall turn right to QUEZON STREET turn left to RIZAL STREET (UI) towards ORTIZ / JM BASA to PLAZA LIBERTAD. And in going back shall, turn right to RIZAL, turn right to VALERIA, turn left to LEDESMA and pass their usual route to their place of origin.

5. BALUARTE / CALUMPANG PUJ’s

All BALUARTE / CALUMPANG PUJ’s coming from the direction of LOPEZ JAENA (BALUARTE) in going to CITY PROPER shall pass LEDESMA turn right to QUEZON STREET turn left to RIZAL STREET (UI) towards ORTIZ / JM BASA to PLAZA LIBERTAD. And in going back shall, turn right to RIZAL, turn right to VALERIA, turn left to LEDESMA and pass to their normal/ usual route to their place of origin.

6. TIMAWA / COMPANIA PUJ’s

All TIMAWA PUJ’S coming from the direction of TIMAWA AVENUE in going to CITY PROPER shall pass DELGADO, turn right JALANDONI, and turn left LEDESMA turn right to QUEZON STREET turn left to RIZAL STREET (UI) towards ORTIZ / JM BASA to PLAZA LIBERTAD. And in going back shall, turn right to RIZAL, turn right to VALERIA, turn left to LEDESMA and pass to their normal/ usual route to their place of origin.

7. VILLA / PAROLA / UNGKA ITGSI DIVERSION PUJ’s

All VILLA / PAROLA /UNGKA ITGSI DIVERSION PUJs shall pass their normal and usual route in going in and out of City Proper.

8. MANDURRIAO PUJs

All MANDURRIAO PUJs coming from the direction of GENERAL LUNA in going to CITY PROPER shallturn right to JALANDONI, turn left to LEDESMA, turn right to QUEZON, turn left to RIZAL and in going back, shall turn left to VALERIA and pass their normal/ usual route back to their point of origin.

Private vehicles

All PRIVATE VEHICLE are allowed to enter the CITY PROPER AREA except on Street where the PARADE is being held and on streets declared NO ENTRY to all types of VEHICLES.

No entry streets

The following streets are TEMPORARILY CLOSED on Vehicular Traffic during the PARADE.

1. From Muelle Loney to corner F. Caram Avenue.

2. Portion of General Luna Street from Muelle loney to Arroyo Fountain Street.

3. From Muelle Loney to corner JM Basa Street.

a. Arroyo St.

b. Arsenal St.

c. Aldeguer St.

4. From corner Valeria to corner F. Caram Avenue

a. Solis Street

b. Delgado

5. Portion of J. Deleon – from corner Valeria to corner Iznart.

6. Portion of Ledesma – from corner Valeria to corner Iznart.

7. Portion of Muelle Loney from corner Foot Quirino Bridge to corner Drilon Bridge/ Rizal Lapuz.

8. Portion of Joveller from corner Muelle Loney to corner Bonifacio Drive.

9. Portion of Rizal Lapuz – from corner Muelle Loney to corner Rizal Lapuz (Rizal Statue)

No entry to PUJs

Following Street are declared NO ENTRY to Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ)

1. GENERAL LUNA STREET – From corner Quezon to Arroyo Fountain

2. LUNA LAPAZ – From corner Huervana to Bonifacio Drive , City Proper.

3. LEDESMA – From corner Quezon and Valeria to corner Iznart/ Plazoleta Gay.

4. IZNART STREET – From corner Rizal / Ma. Clara to Plazoleta Gay.

No entry to trucks and trailers

All trucks coming from the following areas are not allowed to enter the CITY PROPER AREA during the PARADE.

1. TRUCKS / TRAILERS coming from LAPUZ/ LOBOC AREA

2. TRUCKS / TRAILERS coming from MOLO AREA / INFANTE AVENUE. – Rappler.com
