Press release: Can technology save the earth from climate change?

This is a press release from Social Enterprise Conference

MANILA, Philippines –

Can technology help in the fight against climate change? On September 4 to 6, 2015, hundreds of environmental advocates, student developers, and professional programmers will gather to collaborate and create possible climate action through technology and innovation.

“Our goal is for our participants to not only come up with innovative apps and devices, but economicallysustainable start-ups. This is the most practical way to ensure that their tech creations will continue to grow and make a difference, long after the hackathon is over. We also wanted to open this year’s event to individuals who may not know how to code, but who are equally passionate about protecting the environment. Social entrepreneurship is one of the most accessible and effective ways for people to implement solutions and affect change,” said Project Head and Watson Institute Community Builder Raya Buensuceso.

HacktheClimatexWatson is a collaborative effort of Hack the Climate and Watson Institute Philippines. They will feature talks from key people coming from the NGOs, Government Institutions, and private groups that helps in protecting the environment such as Climate Change Commission, WWF-Philippines, Greenpeace, Climate Reality, Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines, Global Shapers and Rappler’s Move.ph among others.

The Social Enterprise Conference will be held at the 5th floor Henry Sy, Sr. Hall of the De La Salle University, Taft Avenue on September 4, while the Hackathon is set on September 5-6 to be held at Microsoft Philippine’s Office at the 8th floor 6750 Ayala Avenue Makati.

If you wish to attend the conference or participate in the Hackathon, registration until September 1. For more details, log on to www.hacktheclimate.com or visit HackTheClimate facebook page.
