MANILA, Philippines – The Metropolitan Alliance of Communication Students (MACS) is a nationwide organization of students that aspires to create a unified body in advocating and promoting media education as a means of developing the self, region, and nation.

MACS will be having its 2nd Convention on Sunday, September 27, from 8am to 6pm at SM North EDSA Skydome. This year’s theme is “#CONNECTED: One Nation for Media Education.”

The event part of the organization’s thrust to collaboratively initiate and organize activities and events to forge stronger ties among communication students. MACS also aims to promote media as an educational tool.

MACS currently has 35 member schools. Over 1,000 participants from member schools are expected to attend the convention.

MACS was established in September 2010 at the University of the Philippines. It was formerly known as Metro Manila Alliance of Communication Students.

On its 5th year, its mission is to create stronger connection between the industry and the communication students. 

The convention will discuss various topics such as investigative journalism, alternative journalism, marketing oneself, advertising, performance in media arts, and hosting.
