Feature Writing 101: The basics of storytelling
Writer's Block will hold its feature writing workshop for the second time in 2015

MANILA, Philippines  – There are many reasons for writing a story and just as many ways to do it. Whether you are writing to entertain, inform, expose – a story should always be written in a way that is memorable and easy to understand.

Writer’s Block Philippines, an organization that is committed to helping aspiring writers and communicators write their stories in the most engaging way possible is holding a second run of its Feature Writing 101 workshop.

The writing workshop scheduled for October 17, 2015, Saturday, will have sessions on the different kinds of feature stories and will share best practices on how to put the needed punch to make your story memorable.

“A feature article is not about hard news. It has room for more creativity, expression but should still be anchored on solid facts or current trends. It informs on a deeper level,” said Ana P. Santos, co-founder of Writer’s Block Philippines and the 2014 Persephone Miel Fellow of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting in Washington, D.C.

“From our own experience, feature articles cover personal essays, travel logs as well as other narratives. Whatever form it takes, the basics of good writing and expression apply,” said Nikka Sarthou-Lainez, co-founder of Writer’s Block Philippines and a Contributing Editor in Smile, the in-flight magazine of Cebu Pacific Air.

No professional writing experience required; just an open mind and a story idea. Oh, and you have to be 18 and above to attend.

Feature Writing 101 will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 1 pm – 6 pm at U-View, Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City.

Registration is now open and there are only limited slots available! For inquiries and reservations, email writersblock.ph@gmail.com or contact 0917.397.9927.
