MANILA, Philippines – The Makati city government is hosting a Mega Job Fair open to residents and non-residents on December 11.

More than 52 local and international companies will be participating in the annual job fair, including The Old Spaghetti House, Ace Hardware, SM Supermarket, Goldilocks Bakeshop, Andok’s Litson, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Powerlink Resources, among others.

Makati Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager and president Vissia Maria Aldon said the job fair will be held at the Makati Park and Garden, in front of the University of Makati, from 8 am to 5 pm.

“Aside from job opportunities, pre-employment services such as SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth and PhilPost will also be made available to job seekers,” said Aldon.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will also be at the event that follows the theme, “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan, Alay ng Makati sa Bayan (Decent Jobs and Livelihood, Makati’s Offer to the Nation).”

Acting Mayor Romulo “Kid” Peña Jr said providing employment assistance to residents is “the best Christmas gift” the city government can offer for the Christmas season. (READ: SONA 2015: The state of Philippine labor under Aquino)

“With decent, guaranteed, and sustainable sources of income, city residents will not only help themselves and their families meet their basic needs, but also contribute to reducing poverty and criminality in the city,” Peña said. (READ: Makati, inequality and free cake)
