MANILA, Philippines – Young Filipino students triumphed in their last international math competition for this year, bagging 26 individual medals and team awards in the International Teenagers’ Mathematical Olympiad 2015 (ITMO 2015) held from December 10 to 14 in Sungai Pentani in Kedah, Malaysia.

The Philippine team won two gold, 3 silver, 9 bronze medals, and two merit awards in the individual contest; 4 first runner-up and 4 second runner-up awards in the team and group contests; and two awards in the Puzzle Challenge.

Jinger Chong and Stefan Marcus Ong, both students of St Jude Catholic School, won the gold medals, according to team leader Isidro Aguilar of the Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG).

Bagging silver medals were Steven Reyes, St Jude Catholic School; Andres Rico Gonzales III, Colegio San Juan de Letran; and Terence Brian Tsai, Chiang Kai Shek College.

The bronze medalists were William Joshua King, Bethany Christian School; Eason Wong, Philippine Cultural College-Annex; Alyana Zoie Chua, MGC New Life Christian Academy; Natalia Beatrice Dy, St John’s Institute; Tiffany Mae Ong, Immaculate Conception Academy-Greenhills; Eion Nikolai Chua, MGC New Life Christian Academy; Bryce Ainsley Sanchez, Grace Christian College; Elijamin Wolfgang Claveria, Philippine Science High School-Main; and Xavier Jefferson Ray Go, Zamboanga Chong Hua High School.

The merit awardees are Jarrett Ian Lim of Philippine Academy of Sakya and Xuanye Li of Xavier School.
