Aleron promises experiential choral concert in Makati and Manila
Press release: The Aleron choir holds concerts on May 28 and 29

This is an announcement from the Aleron Choir.

MANILA, Philippines – Aleron is mounting an experiential concert entitled “Under the Olive Tree,” to be held in two venues at the end of May. The concert will focus on themes of war and peace, and will showcase works by both international and local composers.

The choir will stage the production on May 28th at the 2nd Floor, Glorietta 5 merchant space, and on May 29th at the newly constructed Basilica de San Ignacio on Arzobispo Street in Intramuros. The shows will be at 8 pm and will be led by a guest conductor, Dr Eudenice Palaruan, an esteemed choral pedagogue. These performances will be his last in the country before moving to Singapore to pursue a new teaching position.

The concert will include commentaries on the pieces, and these aim to provoke the minds of the audience. These include short play features that elaborate on the messages of the music. Aleron intends to reach a wider audience and to bring a new appreciation for choral music through this different concert presentation.

Aleron is led by Christopher Amado Ong Arceo as ensemble director, and is a Philippine-based all-male choir geared toward exploring and broadening the male soundscape. It came into existence in 2006 as the alumni ensemble of the Ateneo de Manila High School Glee Club, and continues today composed of male choristers from diverse backgrounds.

The group also represented the Philippines as guest choir in the 1st International Federation for Choral Music World Choral EXPO held in November 2015, in Macau, China.
