MANILA, Philippines – On June 25, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) will hold its 46th General Alumni Homecoming at Ang Bahay ng Alumni on the Diliman campus in Quezon City at 3pm.
Graduates of the University of the Philippines, especially the Jubilarians – Diamond (Class of 1956), Golden (Class of 1966), Ruby (Class of 1976), and Silver (Class of 1991) – will converge for the milestone event to celebrate the theme “Walang Humpay ang Tagumpay (Never-ending Success and Achievements).”
In line with tradition, the Homecoming will honor UPAA Distinguished Alumni Awardees. “It is a great privilege to acknowledge our UP alumni and their extraordinary achievements and contributions that bring honor to the University,” exclaims UPAA President Attorney Ramon Maronilla.
Heading the list as Most Distinguished Alumni Awardees include 94-year old Engineer David M. Consunji (BSCE ’46, LLD ’93), founder of DMCI Holdings Incorporated and former Secretary of the Department of Public Works, Transportation and Communications from 1970-75, as well as Ms Amina Rasul-Bernardo (AB ’75), director of the Philippine Council on Islam and Democracy (PCID), and former Presidential Adviser of Youth Affairs from 1994-98.
The evening will also serve as a showcase for UP Talents top billed by 2015 “Asia’s Got Talent” first runner-up, Ms. Gerphil Flores from UP College of Music, and the UAAP Street Dance Competition Season 78 champions, The UP Street Dance Club.
