MANILA, Philippines – What’s your wish for a brighter tomorrow?

In a video shared on social media, the young cast of Resorts World Manila’s (RWM) production of Annie shared a message of hope in their rendition of the song “Tomorrow” from the musical. The video was released during a period of sweeping changes in the country.

“We wanted to share our message of hope and positivism through the children of Annie as the country looks forward to a brighter tomorrow with the new administration,” said RWM chief integrated marketing officer Martin Paz.

Based on the popular comic strip Little Orphan Annie by Harold Gray, Annie opened as a musical in 1977 and ran for a record-setting 6 years at the former Alvin Theater in midtown Manhattan, New York. With music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas Meehan, Annie was nominated for 11 Tony Awards and won in 7 categories, including Best Musical. Its popular musical numbers include “Tomorrow,” “Maybe,” and “Hard Knock Life.”

Starting September 30 at Newport Performing Arts Theater, RWM together with Full House Theater Company brings Annie back on the Philippine stage. The show will feature some of the best homegrown actors and young stars who could very well be the future of Philippine theater.
