The Globe Voices @ Work choir brings home several awards at the 7th Winter Choral Festival in Hong Kong

This is a press release from Globe Voices @ Work:

MANILA, Philippines – The Globe Voices @ Work – Globe Telecom’s official corporate choir – emerged triumphant in the 7th Winter Choral Festival by bagging the Gold Diploma and the Category Winner of the Mixed Voices Open Category (B2) at the festival held in Hong Kong last Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2016. The group also received a Special Adjudicator Prize for “The Most Musically Engaging Choir”. The competition was participated by 17 high-caliber choirs from Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines. Globe Voices @ Work is the lone Philippine choir in this competition. The group is conducted by Lester Delgado.

This is the first international competition tour of Globe Voices @ Work. The choir performed a repertoire of 3 songs as part of the repertoire requirement for Category B2: “Jubilate Deo” by Orlando di Lasso, “Alleluia” by Lester Delgado, and “Pasigin” arranged by Eudenice Palaruan.

An international panel of distinguished judges from Lithuania (Vaclovas Agustina), Portugal (Pedro Teixeira), and China (Meng Da Peng) adjudicated the competition.

Vaclovas Agustina quipped, “Very good performance from the choir. Pedro Teixeira had all praises for the choir: “Good job!” He also commended Lester Delgado for “Alleluia”, which he wrote.

Meng Da Peng loved the choir. “This is an excellent choir with great stage presence. (Jubilate Deo) had clear and distinct polyphony. (The interpretation) was natural and delicate. (The choir had) good dynamic contrast and great performance. The pianissimo towards the end (of Alleluia) is very touching.”

The competition tour of Globe Voices @ Work brings them to several stops in Hong Kong including a courtesy call at the Philippines Consulate General in Hong Kong, a performance visit at the Catholic Community of Lamma Island and the participation at the 7th Winter Choral Festival.

Globe Voices @ Work President shares “We dedicate this victory to family, friends and fellow Ka-Globe who gave their overwhelming love and support to the choir’s first international competition. We also offer this international recognition to our beloved Filipinos!” – Rappler.com
