UP Sandigan dares you to ‘Move’
UP Sandigan will hold its 4th "Dare YOUth To Move" medical mission from August 1-3 in Kanawan, Bataan

MANILA, Philippines – According to the United Nations Population Fund, the youth makes up roughly 30% of Philippine manpower today. These 20- and 30-somethings are not just the economy’s drivers, they are also leaders-in-the-making who will shape tomorrow’s society.

In recognition of the role of the youth in nation-building, UP Sandigan, a socio-political organization of the UP College of Pharmacy, will be holding “Dare YOUth To Move 4: 4tifying Movers to Move Lives” from August 1 to 3 in Bataan. This is the fourth installment of Dare YOUth to Move (DYTM), an annual event which involves the youth in leadership training and projects geared towards sustainable development in a selected community.

For the past 3 years, UP Sandigan has successfully provided health services to the Aeta community of Kanawan, Bataan. Members of the organization, fellow pharmacy students, and professors from the UP College of Pharmacy will continue to volunteer for the program, which aims to mold social awareness and consciousness as well as to improve the students’ leadership skills.

This year, UP Sandigan wants to step it up a notch by including lectures for adults and educational games for children during the medical mission. Furthermore, alumni of the organization and some leading personalities will deliver talks focused on developing one’s leadership potential and the importance of teamwork to the participants of Dare YOUth To Move.

The project is in line with the organization’s thrust to expose its participants to environments that would inspire them to assume their responsibility as nation-builders and help in the holistic and sustainable development of the community.

“Dare YOUth To Move 4: 4tifying Movers to Move Lives” has also been recognized by the United Nations Youth as one of the many celebrations for International Youth Day focusing on the advocacy of mental health awareness among hundreds of others across the globe. UN Youth has mapped DYTM’s participation here. – Rappler.com
