Smart launches the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

MANILA, Philippines – It was an exciting weekend for Apple fans and Smart subscribers as the country’s biggest mobile network launched this holiday’s most coveted gadgets – the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.

Through exclusive and surprise events, the mobile network provided subscribers a more premium way to acquire their new phones.

The VIP welcome

Last November 13, VIP guests and subscribers of Smart Infinity, the mobile network’s premium service, attended an exclusive event at the Manila Peninsula’s Salon de Ning.

Guests mingled to the hip-shaking sounds of latin band, Sabor Latino, while being treated to free-flowing cocktails and canapés.

At the stroke of midnight, after a countdown led by Smart Infinity head Julie Carceller, a few lucky Infinity subscribers were the first to be handed the new phones.

One of them was loyal subscriber Nona Orozco who could not wait to transfer her sim into the new consul and test out the new features, particularly, the improved camera function. 

When asked how she felt about being one of the first to receive an iPhone 6, she happily replied, “Unexpected, di ko talaga alam! And excited, excited to use it.”

Orozco highlights Smart’s practical packages and superb customer service as a reason why she remains a loyal Smart Infinity subscriber.

The following day, Smart held a series of iPhone 6 blitzes in select malls and Smart stores. Postpaid subscribers were welcomed with an easy and hassle-free 3-step process to unboxing their new iPhones.

In SM Megamall, a booth was set up in the 2nd floor atrium where you could fill out an application form, submit and have your application approved, and immediately receive and unbox your brand new iPhone.

Fe Punzalan-Cabrera, was just enjoying some ramen with her daughter when they stumbled upon the Smart iPhone 6 booth in SM Megamall. Just applying on a whim, she became the first Postpaid subscriber in that location to get her hands on her very own iPhone 6, all in a process that took less than an hour. 

The cherry on top of her sundae? Her brand-new iPhone 6 was handed to her by celebrity brand ambassador Derek Ramsay.

Ramen, Ramsay and the new iPhone 6? Not a bad Friday.

Derek Ramsay was making the rounds around participating branches to talk about the iPhone and why he has remained a loyal Smart subscriber for almost 10 years.

“When the iPhone came out, everything just changed,” he said in a short interview.

“It’s just amazing what this kind of technology can do. So for you to maximize such great technology, you need the biggest network in the country.”
