PRESS RELEASE: PHLPost urges online buyers to place their orders only on the Pinoy eMall site, following reports that copies of the commemorative stamps are being sold in the black market at much higher prices

This is a press release from the Philippine Postal Corporation.

MANILA, Philippines – In response to the very high demand for Pope Francis Visit Commemorative Stamps and the rare coinage souvenir sheets from both the domestic and international markets, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is now ready to accept orders and purchase transactions through its official shopping portal.

PHLPost urged the public who buy online, to place their stamp orders only from the Pinoy eMall site to purchase them at their actual selling price, following reports that copies of the said commemorative stamps are now being sold in the black market at a price twice or even higher than its original denomination.

“To protect the public’s interest, we encourage the public who want a piece of a Pope Francis memorabilia in the form of stamps to purchase online through the PHLPost web portal, at face value,” Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.

According to Dela Cruz, “The Pope Francis stamps and souvenir sheet are considered as among the fastest selling stamps in the postal service history.”

The 7,000 pieces of souvenir sheets featuring the first ever coinage stamp had been sold out during its first day of issuance on January 13. Another set of 10,000 copies have been printed to cater to the public clamor.

To buy the stamps, just log on to www.phlpost.gov.ph and click the Pinoy eMall icon to be directed to the website, Pinoy e-Mall, which offers a complete e-commerce solution from online selling, purchasing and payment of goods up to delivery.

Payments may be in the form of Electronic Postal Money Order (E-PostMO) and Visa Card. – Rappler.com
