The professional writer-mama
How to get on the pro writing path while raising the kids

MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATED) Being a work-at-home mama faces a unique set of challenges. Being a writer comes with its own set of hurdles as well.

For those who are hands-on parents and also writing from home, the situation is even trickier. You may be an experienced writer or just starting out (or even still considering this career idea), but the complicated set-up remains. For one, when does one find the time to focus and put the words down?

If you feel that it is your calling to become a writer, then it’s time to get your act together.

Do you ditch your chores and your kids and your household management duties? No, you get help.

You attend The Professional Writer-Mama workshop.

Writer’s Block Philippines will arm you with the necessary tools you need to start a professional career in writing — specifically, while raising the kids. The first run of the custom-made The Professional Writer-Mama workshop will be on August 22 (Saturday) 1:30pm-5:30pm at U-View, Fully Booked in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

For this, Writer’s Block founders, Ana P. Santos and Nikka Sarthou-Lainez, are collaborating with editor/writer (and mom) Candice Lopez-Quimpo to help attendees chart their writing paths.

This workshop has been especially created to tackle real-life writing dilemmas, while taking the in consideration real-life parenting obligations.

The course outline is designed to work with the realities of working from home, to present productivity solutions, and to identify writing opportunities. We will be focusing on the following topics:

  • The myths and realities of working and writing from home while raising kids
  • Productivity and task management hacks
  • Anatomy of a professional writer-mama
  • Opportunities out there: realistic options for writers
  • How to pitch to potential publications and clients
  • How to be a true Professional Writer-Mama

If you’re a mom who wants to write, but feels overwhelmed or limited by your parenting duties, then do sign up.
