MANILA, Philippines – A 220-meter air-conditioned elevated bridge connecting Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 with Newport City in Pasay City is set to open in the first half of 2017, Public Works and Highways and Transportation secretaries said.

“Once completed, Runway Manila will allow the average person to walk the distance between airport and Newport City in approximately 10 minutes,” Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said in a statement.

Villar said Runway Manila is designed to accommodate up to 2,000 persons at any time, or 200,000 persons per day.

“Rest assured, this will not be the last. There would be more bicycle lanes, pedestrian-friendly facilities constructed,” Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.
