MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - The stock market closed at a new all-time high, its 12th for the year, after breaching the 6,300 level in mid-trade Wednesday, January 30.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index climbed 36.50 points or 0.59% to 6,271.23, breaching the previous record of 6,234.73 set on Tuesday, January 29.
It rose to as much as 6,320.60, a new intraday peak.
The broader all-share index rose 20.27 points or 0.52% to 3,949.53.
Except for the mining and oil index, all sectoral indices were in positive territory. The property sector posted the biggest gain, rising 1.75%.
Most active Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. went up P40 or 1.43% to P2,844 per share.
Megaworld Corp., the second most actively traded stock, soared P0.19 or 5.76% to P3.49 per share.
Third most active Metro Pacific Investments Corp. advanced by P0.20 or 3.98% to P5.22 per share. - Rappler.com
