Leyte landslide death toll rises to 7

MANILA, Philippines - Another body was retrieved from the site of a landslide inside Energy Development Corp.'s (EDC) geothermal complex in Leyte, bringing the death toll to 7.

The latest casulty has not yet been identified, Kananga Mayor Elmer Codilla told local media.

Codilla said 7 plant workers remained missing.

The casualties were among 45 workers who were building a concrete structure when the landslide happened.

EDC blamed the incident on two weeks of rain. - with reports from Eastern Visayas Mail/Rappler.com
