MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The country’s biggest corporations are reaching out to communities affected by Typhoon Yolanda (international codename Haiyan) through various ways.

Here’s how companies are supporting government relief and rebuilding efforts in typhoon-ravaged areas.

George Ty-led Metrobank, Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Financial Services Philippines through Metrobank Foundation

Donated P50 million. Of the P50 million, P25 million will be spent for relief operations while the other P25 million will be spent to rebuild structures such as schools and churches

Global Business Power Corporation, Metrobank’s power unit

Provided temporary shelter to some 300 individuals in its multi-purpose hall in Iloilo. It also distributed mats and relief packs to some residents in Cebu and Mindoro

Is airlifting for free relief goods from government agencies and duly-registered organizations. The airline also mounted a flight from Manila to Tacloban carrying teams for rescue and medical missions

The telcos agreed to give out 25 free SMS to typhoon survivors in select Visayas areas from November 13-17

Is accepting donations in kind to be flown over to affected areas from November 11-17. Free seats will also be provided for volunteers and NGOs flying to affected areas from November 11 – 24.
