Cebu Pacific opens 2 Saudi Arabia destinations
The budget carrier sees the potential of servicing millions of OFWs in the Middle East through its long-haul flights between Manila and two cities in Saudi Arabia

MANILA, Philippines – Budget carrier Cebu Pacific has added two long-haul flights to Saudi Arabia this month, expanding the airline’s route in the Middle East.

Cebu Pacific on Wednesday, October 1, launched its Manila-Riyadh route, which would operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Leaving Manila at 5:55 and arriving in the Saudi Arabian capital at 10:35 (Saudi time), the Riyadh service uses the airline’s all-economy 436-seater Airbus A330-300 fleet.

Aside from Riyadh, Cebu Pacific will also open its Manila-Dammam flight on October 4. The Dammam service will fly non-stop, thrice-weekly, according to Alex Reyes, general manager for long haul of Cebu Pacific.

The two air service is seen to be financially viable as millions of Filipinos live and work in the Middle East.

In 2009, the budget carrier listed the the region as among its “must-fly-to” destinations amid challenges in cornering flight entitlements.

“Cebu Pacific will keep flying to where the Filipinos are. As we expand our operations in the Middle East, we are proud to offer even more filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – the fastest, most affordable way to come home,” said Reyes.

Riyadh and Dammam are two of the five long-haul destinations of the Gokongwei-led carrier, with other flights include Sydney, Kuwait, and Dubai.

Regular fare for the Manila-Riyadh route begins at P3,499 ($77.92*). – Rappler.com
