Calabarzon pushed as PH’s ‘wedding destination capital’
An events management company says complete wedding packages in Southern Luzon cost only between P300,000 ($6,693.45) and below P1 million ($22,311.50), compared to Metro Manila's minimum of P1 million ($22,311.50)

MANILA, Philippines – An events management company based in Tagaytay City is pushing for part of Southern Luzon to become the “country’s wedding capital.”

Calabarzon, as Region IV-A is called, is composed of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces. Its regional center is in Lipa City, Batangas.

Destination Events & Business Solutions (DEBS) said Calabarzon is very much capable of hosting all types of weddings while providing couples with a one-stop shop for all their needs.

“We have some of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the country. Region IV-A is also where a lot of popular scenic spots can be located. It is also home to some well-known and up-and-coming designers, make-up artists, and photographers,” DEBS president Giselle De Leon said.

DEBS is staging on October 25 and 26 “1st Weddings @ The South” as part of its push to promote Region IV-A. The expo will be held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Taguig City.

De Leon said Calabarzon’s strategic location and the low cost of holding weddings in the region as compared to other cities and provinces makes it “the most ideal place to hold that special moment in someone’s life.”

De Leon said that within Region IV-A, couples can have a wedding complete with their wedding dress, church services, catering, plus video and photo services for only P300,000 ($6,693.45)* and would top at below P1 million ($22,311.50).

In Metro Manila and other urban areas, the cost of a complete wedding package and its accompanying services usually starts at P1 million ($22,311.50).

“A lot of people are still unaware that Region IV-A has a lot of wedding destinations outside of Tagaytay. Couples have a lot of options within the region that can fit the budget that they have,” De Leon said.

The two-day expo will feature more than 50 wedding suppliers based in Region IV-A, including hotels, wedding venues, caterers, designers, photographers, make-up artists, florists, and event stylists.

De Leon said visitors can avail of special discounts from the various packages the suppliers are making available during the expo.

DEBS recently staged wedding expos in Singapore and Dubai. It will be continuing its international roadshow in January 2015. Rappler.com
