MRT3 resumes normal operations
(UPDATED) The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority says a 'possible suicide attempt' involving a 'man in the railings' at the Guadalupe station has prompted the half-line operations

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 was forced to go on “half line operations” Wednesday evening, October 22 at around 6:10 pm.

In an earlier tweet, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said this was due to a “possible suicide attempt” involving a “man in the railings at the Guadalupe station.” The MMDA said its rescue team was already on-site.

An “unindentified male person” was found “sitting along the northbound portion of the Guadalupe bridge,” MRT3 OIC Renato San Jose said in a text message. San Jose said police and barangay personnel were also on-site.

“Person reported to be asking for media presence,” added San Jose.

Normal operations resumed at around 7:40 pm, said MRT3 spokesman Hernan Cabrera in a tweet. “Incident resolved, person removed from the area,” he said.

The train line, which traverses through EDSA, only operated from the North Avenue station in Quezon City to the Shaw station in Mandaluyong city, according to Cabrera. – Rappler.com
