MANILA, Philippines – Philippine telecommuncations companies Globe Telecom and Smart Communications have come out with their respective pricing schemes for the iPhone 5S and 5C in preparation for the phones’ November 15 launch.

The two companies’ pricing schemes are slightly different, with Globe’s plans appearing to favor those willing to trade in their older phones while Smart’s plans are easier to understand at first glance.

Globe’s iPhone Forever

In an announcement, Globe unveiled what it calls the iPhone Forever program, allowing new and existing postpaid subscribers to swap their current devices with new iPhone models. Interested parties choose one of the iPhone plans listed below, and then trade in the phones they currently have and pay a one-time cashout fee.

The plans are as follows:

Users who follow this route then have to trade in their phones, with cashout costs dependent on the type of phone traded in.

iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S users can pick a plan above and trade in their phone without paying a cashout cost. Those using an iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, BlackBerry Q10, or HTC One have to pay a cashout fee of P4,999. Those trading in an iPhone 3GS, Samsung Galaxy S3, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Curve, Bold, or Torch, Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, or Nokia Lumia have to pay a cashout fee of P9,999. Trading in a different phone from those listed entails a cashout fee of P11,999.

Globe users can also get the new iPhones using regular postpaid plans under the mySUPERPLAN pricing scheme. The iPhone 5C can be purchased at a minimum of P1,799 monthly using the Plan 999 with a monthly cashout of P800. The iPhone 5S can be had for P2,199 monthly on Plan 1799 with a P400 monthly cashout.

Smart’s wipeout program

According to Smart’s reservation page for the iPhones 5S and 5C, new subscribers to Smart have a separate plan matrix versus existing users. New Smart subscribers can use the following matrix to choose a plan they want for the phones they like.
