PLDT unit to launch first PH data scrubbing center
IP Converge's data scrubbing service aims to help remove false or malicious data from its users' services caused by distributed denial of service attacks

MANILA, Philippines – IP Converge Data Services Inc., (IPC) a unit of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), will launch the Philippines’ first facility for analyzing Internet traffic and removing false or otherwise malicious data caused by distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

The process, known as data scrubbing, will be offered by IPC’s data scrubbing center, which is being launched in partnership with Hong Kong’s Nexusguard, a DDoS mitigation service provider.

IPC director for product management and marketing Niño Valmonte said of the new data scrubbing center, “With the rising incidence of DDoS attacks and their increasing complexity and volume, having our very own scrubbing center augments our capabilities to protect local online businesses, and enables us to mitigate local attack traffic in-country as well.”

“This ensures customers that aside from being protected from attacks, the latency with regard to legitimate Internet traffic accessing their websites is minimized,” he added.

The scrubbing center will be co-located in IPC’s data center facility and the IPC scrubbing center will be connected to Nexusguard’s scrubbing center network. – Rappler.com
