MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Another luxury car has arrived in Manila after British carmaker Bentley opened dealership in the country a week ago.

British brand Rolls Royce, known for their highly-personalized bespoke cars, unveiled in a grand launch on Wednesday, June 19, its first dealership in the Philippines.

Rolls Royce executives, who talked about an ongoing move to expand dealership across the region, cites the Philippines’ thriving economy and growing interest in luxury cars among Filipinos for their decision to set up dealership in Manila.

“It is a positive time for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to be entering the Philippines. As one of the fastest growing Asian economies this year, we are confident that the brand will do well in this country. I am looking forward to moving ahead with British Bespoke Automobiles in this exciting new market,” Rolls Royce regional director for the Asia-Pacific Paul Harris said.

“There are many inquiries and interest from people…maybe 20 people,” said Willy Tee Ten of British Bespoke Automobiles Inc., which will be responsible for importer-dealer Rolls-Royce Cars Manila.

When asked if businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan was among those keen on iconic British car, Ten replied, “Yes, he expressed interest.”

Ten said a new Rolls-Royce showroom will open at the Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig in the first quarter of 2014. A temporary showroom has been set up to start receiving orders.

The target is to sell at least 10 units this 2013, growing exponentially in the coming years.

An entry level Rolls Royce Ghost go for P25.9 million, officials said in a press briefing at the Manila Peninsula Hotel. Ten said a Phantom will arrive in October and the upcoming Wraith in early 2014.

Price can go higher depending on the customization a buyer requires.

One unit takes about 440 man-hours to build. The more the customization, the longer it takes.

About 3,575 Rolls Royce units were sold worldwide in 2012.

The luxury market in the Philippines sells between 2,000 and 3,000 units a year. – Rappler.com
