The stage is set here in UP Cebu, hours before the 2nd Comelec presidential debate. Students and supporters of the different candidates are starting to build up here in the campus, all of them excited to hear what their bets have to say on the 4 issues.

Compared to the first debate in Cagayan de Oro, the programs here in Cebu are more interactive. There are booths that educate voters and get their sentiments for the elections.

According to the president of the UP Cebu student government, students were also more involved in the preparations and the programs.

JUSTINE BALANE, UP CEBU STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT: The students are mostly in charge of student marshalls. The student council is also in charge of making sure that every UP student can be on the on grounds event given that the seats are very limited. We’re also part of organizing so they consult us on what how they should do security. And a lot of student organizations in the performance side, they’re also performing now. But, yeah, they’re very excited to see their presidential bets. They’re very excited that we have a lot of new things here in UP Cebu. We don’t get a lot of events.

A pre-debate program, which started with a Palm Sunday mass on the campus grounds, is currently ongoing. The presidential candidates are expected to arrive soon.
