MANILA, Philippines - Bruce Lee fans, have you ever wondered who taught him what he knew?

Chinese director Wong Kar Wai (WKW) gives us the answer in his new movie, "The Grandmasters," set for release in China on December 18. [WKW is known for his visually-stunning 1994 film, "Chungking Express."]

"The Grandmasters" is about Ip Man [aka Yip Kai-Man], a martial arts grand master who trained Bruce Lee in Wing Chun.

Wing Chun is a form of close-range combat where striking and grappling are used. According to Fightscope, Wing means "song" or "poem" and Chun means "spring [time]" or "love."

Indiewire reports that the movie took almost 5 years to make.

"The Grandmasters" stars Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai as Ip Man and actress Ziyi Zhang.

It features visuals that HK-based WKW is known for: unique and highly-stylized.
