MANILA, Philippines - On November 9, American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood announced that she would donate all her concert proceeds to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in Atlantic City, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The County Music Awards nominee for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Album was on her Blown Away tour and performing at Boardwalk Hall.
“We’re so glad to be here, and even more glad to be here this evening,” Underwood said.
“You know, after something like this, you wonder whether the show should go on. We thought, this building was still here, so it must be here for a reason."
According to THR, the singer has been donating US$1 of every ticket sold for the tour to the Red Cross since September.
With the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy to the Garden State late October, Underwood said she "would put her profits 'right back into the community here'."
“I wouldn’t feel right making any money off of tonight’s show,” said the 29-year-old who is married to Nashville Predators hockey player Mike Fisher.
