MANILA, Philippines - Rurouni Kenshin is in the big screen!
Rapplers who are avid fans of the anime watched the movie's first screening schedule on its first day in Manila on December 5.
Here are their thoughts on the film:
1) Rodneil Quiteles, associate producer: Long time coming. Fans have clamored for a live action of the beloved anime series Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) and it's really good to finally have one. While I think the rewrite in the film is 'okay', some hardcore fans might be let down by some of the antagonists.
The movie is not at all dragging, but another fight scene or two wouldn't hurt. Overall, it's still a pretty good flick that both fans and non fans will enjoy.
2) Analette Abesamis, web developer: Having followed the anime religiously, the movie left me wanting for more — in a good way! The sword fights couldn't be more amazing which made me yearn for more Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū.
3) Stacy de Jesus, social media producer: I think the movie did not disappoint, especially considering the fact that you expect film versions of anime series like Samurai X to be good.
Although I was not as devoted as others in watching the anime series, I was able to relate and I would watch this movie for the second or 3rd time.
The movie will be shown in local theaters only until Saturday, December 8.
