MANILA, Philippines – The second trailer of the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer The Great Gatsby has just been released on December 20.
According to Geek Tyrant’s Joey Paur, the trailer “gives us an even better look at what this film is going to be like, and samples some more music.”
The film is an adaptation of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same title.
DiCaprio plays Jay Gatsby, a “mysterious, party-giving millionaire” who meets aspiring writer Nick Carraway, played by former Spiderman Tobey Maguire.
Carraway leaves his sleepy hometown in the Midwest and goes to New York to chase his own American Dream. He becomes Gatsby’s neighbor and is drawn into Gatsby’s world. Carraway then writes Gatsby’s story.
The Great Gatsby was first made into a film in 1974 starring Robert Redford as Jay Gatsby and Mia Farrow as Daisy Buchanan (in the 2013 film, actress Carey Mulligan plays Daisy Buchanan).
The screenplay was penned by Francis Ford Coppola and the film was directed by Jack Clayton.
The 2013 screenplay is penned by director Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. Since Luhrmann was also behind the movie-musical Moulin Rouge (starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor), expect lots of music in the 2013 film.
Other cast members are Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Gemma Ward and Callan McAuliffe as the young Jay Gatsby.
The Great Gatsby (2013) is scheduled for release in May 13. – Rappler.com
