MANILA, Philippines - Actress and TV host Kris Aquino announced she was quitting show business following her filing of a temporary protection order (TPO) against her ex-husband, professional basketball player James Yap.

Speaking to ABS-CBN's TV Patrol, Aquino said, "I'm tendering my resignation. Sa puso ng isang nanay, ito ang dinidikta sakin (this is what a heart of a mother dictates). I’m giving up my shows." Aquino says her sisters cautioned her against the move because of contractual obligations but she insists her obligations as a mother are more important, "I have to do what's best for my son (James "Bimby" Aquino-Yap) & that means sacrificing my job."

The feud between Aquino and Yap escalated following Yap's press conference last Wednesday, March 20. A tearful Yap denied the allegations against him hinting Aquino was brainwashing their child.

Yap's camp also filed for a hold departure order banning Kris from taking Bimby out of the country. Aquino and her sons are scheduled to leave the country on March 23rd. Yap's camp accused Aquino of depriving Yap of "all opportunities to exercise his visitation rights". - Rappler.com
