Kris Aquino's official website has been hacked by Anonymous

HACKED. Kris Aquino's official website has been hacked ostensibly by the 'hacktivist' group, Anonymous. Screengrab from ABS-CBNNews.com

MANILA, Philippines – By the afternoon of March 23, the website of TV host and actress Kris Aquino was hacked by the “hacktivist” group Anonymous.

ABS-CBNNews.com reported that as of 1:55 pm, the home page of the website www.krisaquino.net was blocked by a large banner image with the statement “We are Anonymous” written across it.

Advertisements on the website showing her face and the products she endorses had also been defaced.

As of 6 pm on Saturday, March 23, the hacked website could no longer be accessed with only the words “We will get back shortly…” on the plain white page.

The hacking of Aquino’s website came on the day she flew to Paris with her son James “Bimby” Yap Jr. On March 20, her petition for a temporary protection order (TPO) against former husband James Yap was granted, requiring Yap to keep a distance of 100 meters from her and her household.

Though she declared on March 21 that she would quit show biz, her network, ABS-CBN, announced on March 23 that the host-actress would return to fulfill her contractual obligations with them.

The group Anonymous is also said to be the same group that had hacked and defaced websites of government agencies at the height of the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. – With reports by Pia Ranada/Rappler.com
