Sarah G, John Lloyd film opens Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines – Love team Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz reprise their onscreen romance in the 3rd and final installment of the “A Very Special Love” franchise.

In “It Takes a Man and a Woman,” Geronimo and Cruz return as Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montenegro respectively. In the film, the two are no longer together and viewers are introduced to Miggy’s new girlfriend played by Isabelle Daza. Laida returns from abroad to take her place in the Montenegro group of companies as a successful executive, now on the same level in the company as Miggy.

Tensions arise as Laida is forced to work with Miggy and his new girlfriend. Miggy has to deal with the new Laida, who is fiercer, bolder and more competitive.

Their romance first captured the nation’s imagination in the 2008 film “A Very Special Love.” Laida first comes into Miggy’s life as a lowly but enthusiastic editorial assistant applicant at his men’s magazine, Bachelor.

Miggy is the scion of a wealthy Montenegro family who turns his employees off with his meanness, arrogance and lack of consideration for others.

Despite his sour personality, Laida is devoted to him, defending him against backbiting co-workers and running the most impossible errands for him. After some bumps along the way and Miggy’s rude awakening to the kind of person he is, the two fall in love.

In the second movie “You Changed My Life,” Laida and Miggy are in a sweet relationship full of power hugs and exclamations of “bebeh ko!” But their love is tested by Miggy’s new promotion, which makes him an absentee boyfriend, and the arrival of Laida’s childhood friend, Macoy.

“It Takes a Man and a Woman” is an expected Holy Week hit, showing in all theaters on March 30. Followers of the franchise will find out if Laida and Miggy are meant to be.
