MANILA, Philippines – Grammy award winner and ’70s “Queen of Disco” Gloria Gaynor has cancelled her I Will Survive tour in Manila originally slated on April 5 at NBC Tent, Taguig City, and on April 6, at AUF Sports and Cultural Center, Angeles City.

A statement by promoter ATG Entertainment production reads:

“We sincerely apologize for the turn of events and we hope for your kind consideration on this matter.”

Best known for her chart topping hit “I Will Survive” — a well-loved anthem on woman empowerment — Gaynor has received international acclaim and icon status among disco and soul music lovers. The song has lived on through revivals and covers of artists such as Diana Ross and the Pussycat Dolls.

The ’70s disco and soul era was made even more vibrant and affecting by her many other hits “Can’t Take My Eyes of You,” “I Am What I Am,” and “Never Can Say Goodbye,” among others.
