Lee Min Ho: ‘My fans are my everything’

MANILA, Philippines – In a press conference for Lee Min Ho’s second Philippine visit, held July 5 at the Bench Tower, Makati, the Korean superstar opened up about his career, his future and his everything.

Seven years in the entertainment industry and Lee Min Ho is at a loss when asked to describe his journey. In 7 words, the star was asked to sum up his 7 years of fame.

With local Korean celebrity Sam Oh acting as his translator, he tried to explain himself with some difficulty: “How could you sum it up in 7 words?”

Ultimately, the words he chose – fans, projects, shows, relationships, Philippines, album and Bench – pointed to what or who he valued the most; people, and a solid connection with them through his craft.

His solo album encapsulates this.

“The title of the album, ‘My Everything’ really refers to my fans. It’s a gift for them because my fans are truly my everything.”

He takes this conviction to heart, even with his recent career move into the music scene. When asked what sets singing apart from acting, the Koreanovela artist had his fans still in mind.

He shared how performing in front of a live crowd is more interactive than shooting for television. Singing allows him to see the reaction of his audiences and to interact with them, as opposed to acting out a scene before a camera.

“The immediate response that I get when singing is really something else. The happiness that I get from that is really extraordinary.”

It seems fans could not ask for more from an idol who also sees them as “friends, lovers and family.” But the crowd gathered at the press conference had one request in mind – a dance number.

His fans agree that dancing isn’t his forte, the actor said laughing. “I feel the response to my dancing isn’t that great.”

Just the same, he would be happy to do a “butt dance” for his fans. Anything for his everything, indeed.
