Cory Monteith cremated

MANILA, Philippines – The body of “Glee” actor Cory Monteith was cremated on Tuesday, July 16, in Vancouver, after a private viewing, reports TMZ.

The viewing was held shortly after the body was released from autopsy. Monteith’s mother Ann McGregor, brother Shaun and partner Lea Michele were present.

But the actor’s father, Joe Monteith, was missing in the ceremony. He told TMZ he only heard about it much later. 

“I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very, very much. I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated,” he said.

The “Glee” star was found dead in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver on July 13.

The news immediately prompted an outpouring of grief and sympathy in social media.

Three days later, the British Columbia coroner’s office said Monteith, who had struggled with substance abuse, died of an apparent overdose of heroin and alcohol. – Rappler.com
