Ogie moves to TV5

MANILA, Philippines – From Kapuso to Kapatid, Ogie Alcasid is moving to TV5 after 18 years with GMA Network.

The singer-comedian had reportedly been meeting with GMA executives for some time and informed them about his decision last week, ABS-CBN reports, citing pep.ph.

Alcasid is one of the country’s leading songwriters and balladeers. Apart from that romantic persona, he has also established himself in a different sphere, comedy, particularly through his weekly show, “Bubble Gang” on GMA.

In a statement issued Thursday, July 24, GMA expressed its gratitude to Alcasid “for being a part of the Network’s success all these years.” The network also cited his “achievements as a singer, songwriter, comedian, host, and actor.”

Alcasid is due to hold a special show billed, “Ogie Alcasid…I Write The Songs: The 25th Anniversary Concert” on August 16. – Rappler.com
