Claudine throws RA 9262 at Raymart

MANILA, Philippines – Claudine Barretto went to the Marikina Regional Trial Court Thursday morning, August 29, to formally charge her estranged husband Raymart Santiago with violation of RA 9262, or the the Anti-Violence against Women and their children Act of 2004.

She was accompanied by her parents Miguel and Inday Barretto.

“Even I, as a celebrity, who almost has everything, was still physical, sexually, psychologically abused by my own husband,” the 34-year-old actress said, addressing the media, reports ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol.”

Claudine submitted with her affidavit photographs showing her bruise marks which she claimed were caused by Raymart.

Claudine’s parents supported her claim, with Inday Barretto lamenting that instead of “protect[ing Claudine] with your life,” as when Raymart “asked for my daughter’s hand,” he had instead become a “danger” to her daughter.

Interviewed by “TV Patrol,” Raymart said he also has evidence to disprove the charges against him.

“Kahit papaano, asawa ko siya. Kahit papaano, masakit sa akin at nangyayari itong lahat. Pero iyon ang gusto niya. Yun ang bibigay ko sa kanya.”

(Somehow, she’s still my wife. Somehow, it hurts me that all this is happening. But this is what she wants. That’s what I’ll give.)

The case filed against the 40-year-old actor is the latest legal development in this marital crisis that has gone to the courts.
