MANILA, Philippines – TV personality and model Phoemela Baranda denied that actress Anne Curtis told her “I can buy you” during a drunken row at an upscale club last November 23, ABS-CBN reported.

Details about the incident were reported earlier this week. Curtis allegedly slapped actor John Lloyd Cruz, magazine publisher JR Isaac, and their friend Leah De Guzman during a party in Privé Luxury Club at The Fort, Taguig.

The actress was also said to have told Baranda, “I can buy you, your friends, and this club.” The line caught netizens’ attention and had spread throughout social media as memes.

Barranda denied hearing the words, and said Curtis did not point a finger at her.

Hindi niya rin ako dinuro, she wasn’t angry at me, she didn’t call me names.

(She didn’t thrust her finger at me, she wasn’t angry at me, she didn’t call me names.”

Baranda said although Curtis did say something to her, the words were caused by anger toward other individuals in the club. The model-TV host maintaned that she and Curtis were not the ones in conflict that night.

Naiintindihan ko pag galit ka na, kahit kaibigan mo na yung kaharap mo, nasasabi mo yung galit mo do’n sa kaibigan,” she said.

(I understand how it is when you’re angry, even if you’re in front of a friend, you let your anger go at that friend).

She claims the misinformation was caused by the passing on of different versions of the story. She said she has moved on and hopes the public will too.

In a follow-up interview with PEP.ph, JR Isaac, who first narrated the events of the incident, said he is sticking to his story.

“I’m not adding. I’m not changing anything”

After the reports of the incident surfaced, Curtis aired her side on Twitter, admitting that “most of” the reports are true and that she has apologized to the parties involved.

Actor Jake Cuenca, who was accused of causing the actress’ outburst, also took to Twitter to defend himself. He said he was in the club that night, but was not involved in the incident and did not witness the event. – Rappler.com
