If Malaya Watson and Marrialle Sellars earn enough votes from the audience, they may make it to the top 13, to perform on an even bigger 'Idol' stage

TOP 10 GIRLS. Will Malaya and Marrialle make it to the top 13? Screengrabs from YouTube

MANILA, Philippines – 15 girls were ready with their numbers, but 5 were cut before they even got to sing a single note.

Fil-Ams Malaya Watson and Marrialle Sellars, however, got a chance to sing for the judges on the February 18 (February 19 in Manila) episode of American Idol.

If they are able to get enough votes from the audience, they may be announced as part of the top 10 contestants to move on in the competition, to be revealed on February 20 (February 21 in Manila). The judges will choose 3 wild cards to round out the top 13.

In this episode, Watson and Sellars joined the top 15 girls from last week’s episodes in a mentoring session with Idol alums Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry, during the Idol workshop of former judge Randy Jackson.

Through to top 10

Sellars was the sixth to be called in the top 10.  While she has been praised for looking the part of a star, the judges and mentors were not impressed by her song choice of Katy Perry’s “Roar,” which judges said felt a little “rushed.”

Watson on the other hand snagged the last spot in the top 10. True to her vocal strengths, she chose to sing “Hard Times” by Ray Charles. Despite suffering a few pitch problems, the judges appeared to be happy with her performance.  (READ: How far will Fil-Am Malaya Watson go on ‘American Idol’?)

Rounding out the top 10 girls are Majesty Rose, Kristen O’Connor, Briana Oakley, Jena Irene Asciutto, Bria Anai, Jessica Meuse, Emily Piriz, and MK Nobilette.

Brandy Neely, Kenzie Hall, Austin Wolfe, Jillian Jensen and Andrina Brogden were cut.

Before the girls’ performance, it was also revealed that Ben Briley, over Neco Starr, was chosen to fill the last spot in the boys’ top 15 (top 30 in total). The boys are scheduled to perform in the February 19 episode of Idol. – Rappler.com
