MANILA, Philippines - It's now officially out in the open: The next season of the US reality show Survivor will be called Survivor: Philippines.

During the season finale of Survivor: One World on Sunday, May 13 (Monday, May 14), host Jeff Probst officially announced the venue of the next season, slated to air September 2012.

Probst, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Sunday, disclosed that they have recently finished shooting episodes of the show in Caramoan, Camarines Sur.

News of the hit show shooting its latest season -- its 25th -- in Caramoan was already leaked to the local press in the past few months.

Camarines Sur Gov L-Ray Villafuerte, in an interview with ABS-CBN News back in March confirmed the shooting, but did not give details.

Villafuerte only said the filming of the reality show helped local businesses in the area.

For fans of the hit show, Probst announced several twists in the new season: the return of 3 players who were medically evacuated in previous seasons, and a 3-tribe format.

The hit show, which has been airing on the CBS network since 2000, is one of the most popular and profitable reality franchises on US TV, and has spawned dozens of versions in other countries.

A local version of the show, also entitled Survivor: Philippines, airs on GMA Network. - Rappler.com
