WASHINGTON, United States of America – “Camp Rock” star Demi Lovato bares all as she gives the real score behind her battle against drugs, alcohol, eating disorders and self-harm on Fabulous Magazine.

The singer-actress attributed her drug use to confinement and depression.

“I was depressed. I would come offstage after being in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room,” Demi shares. “I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to re-create that feeling, to stay ‘up.’ Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs,” she confesses.

According to the magazine interview, Lovato had been struggling against bulimia from the age of 12. Alcohol consumption, cocaine abuse, depression and self-harm aggravated her situation.

Anger management issues also arose when the singer reportedly punched a back-up dancer on a plane ride during one of her tours.

In 2010, Lovato went into rehab to face her demons.

Her fans would be happy to know that Lovato is now clean, determined to get back onstage.

“I didn’t know if I’d be able to go back to work, but I knew I would get so bored,” says the 19-year-old. “I couldn’t see myself going to college or working nine-to-five.” – Rappler.com
