Brightest in showbiz pay tribute to Mang Dolphy

MANILA, Philippines – Friends from show business and fans flocked to the Heritage Park on Saturday, July 14, to pay their last respects to Comedy King Dolphy before he is buried at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Three masses were held for Dolphy on Saturday — at 7 am, 12 noon (sponsored by GMA-7) and 8 pm (sponsored by ASAP 2012 production).

Dolphy will be brought to his final resting place at 3 pm Sunday, July 15. Only family members, close friends and media representatives will be allowed to attend the burial rites.

Among the celebrities who visited his wake today are Kris Aquino, Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez, Senator Tito Sotto and wife Helen Gamboa, Nova Villa, Rhian Ramos, Carla Abellana, Geoff Eigenmann, Richard Gutierrez, Randy Santiago, Vina Morales, Jamie Rivera, Sam Milby, Raymond Gutierrez, Liz Uy, Rio Locsin, Gelli De Belen, Zoren Legaspi, Snooky Serna, Maricel Soriano, Senator Chiz Escudero, Kuh Ledesma, Sarah Geronimo, Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and their 6-month-old son Nate.  

Senator Bong Revilla and his wife Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla told the media that they are hoping the Comedy King will be awarded the National Artist title. 

Bong confirmed that Dolphy and Ramon Revilla Sr were very close. He said Dolphy was very thoughtful and gave his dad Christmas gifts. “Ngayong Christmas lang hindi siya nakapagpadala. Alam natin na talagang maraming nagmamahal kay Tito Dolphy. Marami siyang napasaya.” (It’s only during the last Christmas that he wasn’t able to sent a gift. We all know many people love Tito Dolphy. He gave joy to many.)

Sen Ralph Recto, Governor Vilma Santos and their son, Ryan Christian, expressed their heartfelt condolences to the Quizon family. The Star For All Seasons prays for wisdom and strength for the Comedy King’s family. 

A burial mass will be held for Dolphy Sunday morning and interment will be at 3 pm. – Rappler.com
