‘Wreck-It Ralph’ sequel announced
An untitled 'Wreck-It Ralph' sequel is set to hit theaters in 2018

MANILA, Philippines – A sequel to Wreck-It Ralph is in the works, and it’s coming to the big screen in 2018.

From the arcade, Ralph, the villain who wants to be a hero, now wreaks havoc in the digital world – in the Internet.

Actor John C. Reilly is set to reprise the titular role in the sequel, while Sarah Silverman returns as Vanellope von Schweetz.

Director Rich Moore said in a Facebook live video broadcasted from the Disney page (as quoted in a press release): “This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web – as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them – and the actors who voice them – once again.”

“The world of the internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope,” said writer Phil Johnston, who will now co-direct the sequel. “The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”

Meanwhile, Reilly said: “Ralph is a character very near and dear to my heart. I’m really looking forward to playing the big lug again.”

“Making the first Wreck-It Ralph was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had and I’m really looking forward to bringing him back to life. So many kids I’ve met all over the world are excited to see him again, too. They tell me all the time!”

The original Wreck-It Ralph earned nominations for the Oscar and Golden Globe for best animated feature, among other accolades.

The sequel, which does not have a title yet, is set to hit theaters on March 9, 2018. – Rappler.com
