WATCH: ‘Lego Batman’ movie’s hilarious new trailer introduces Robin

MANILA, Philippines – It wasn’t only the Justice League that had the spotlight in the Warner Bros. Hall H panel at Comic-Con, July 23, Saturday (July 24, Sunday in Manila). There were two Batmen: Ben Affleck’s, and then there was the funny plastic one voiced by Will Arnett for The Lego Batman Movie. 

Of course, Will Arnett’s version had a trailer unveiled at the panel, too – introducing an overenthusiastic Lego Robin, voiced by Michael Cera.

In the beginning of the trailer, Alfred Pennyworth calls out Will’s Bruce Wayne: “It’s time for you to stop this unhealthy behavior. You can’t spend the rest of your life alone, dressed in black, and staying up all night.”

“You need to take responsibility for your life, and it starts by raising your son,” he continues, but Batman is clueless about a young orphan he “sarcastically” adopted at a gala.

In this Lego movie, there’s an explanation for Robin’s iconic pantless costume: as Robin tries on costumes from Bruce’s closet, he eventually picks a certain Reggae Man’s as his own – but he doesn’t like the fit of the pants: “Rip! That’s better. Now I’m free, now I’m movin’, come on, Batman, let’s get groovin’!”

Batman also teaches the super giddy Robin some life lessons, as the latter looks for the seatbelt in the Batmobile: “The first lesson is: life doesn’t give you any seatbelts!”

Aside from Batman’s sidekick, there are also cameos from Lego Joker and Lego Barbara Gordon.
