MANILA, Philippines – The Star Cinema movie She’s Dating the Gangster earned P15 million ( $344,588.36) on its first day of showing in theaters, despite Typhoon Glenda’s (international name Rammasun) presence in Manila on Wednesday, July 16.

The figures were released by Mico del Rosario, Star Cinema’s advertising and promotions manager on his Instagram account on Thursday, July 17. 

The movie, based on the Bianca Bernardino’s novel, which became popular via Wattpad, stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as Athena and Kenji, who pretend to be a couple to get Kenji’s ex-girlfriend jealous. 

On her Twitter account, Bernardo expressed her gratitude to the fans for the support they have shown her and Daniel.

In an interview with Rappler, Bernardino said that she was very happy over about the casting, which saw Kathryn and Daniel in the lead roles. She also said that she was aware that there would be changes from the book in the movie, but that she had visited the set during filming and was happy with what she saw. – Rappler.com
