MANILA, Philippines – British girl group All Saints returns to the music scene with their new song “One Strike,” which officially comes out Friday, February 26.
According to a report from NME, the song was inspired by the marriage breakup of member Nicole Appleton and Oasis singer Liam Gallagher. Member Shaznay Lewis shared that Nicole breakup was one of the things she was thinking about as the song was being created.
“The lyrics came from somewhere very real. Nic was going through a lot of things at that time. That was at the forefront of my mind because it was the heaviest thing going on,” Shaznay said.
According to same interview, Nicole revealed that she cried upon hearing the song.
“The first few times I heard it in my car I couldn’t stop crying because I could hear so clearly what it was about,” Nicole said.
The song is part of the group’s upcoming album Red Flag scheduled for release on April 8.
Aside from Shaznay and Nicole, other members of the group include Nicole’s sister Natalie and Melanie Blatt. The group became famous in the early ’90s with songs such as “I Know Where It’s At,” “Never Ever,” “Pure Shores,” and their covers of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge,” and LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade.”
In 2001, the group announced they were parting ways, but reunited in 2006. They broke up again in 2009, but announced they were getting together again in 2013. In January, photos of the 4 members surfaced recording in a a studio for their next album. – Rappler.com
