Rachel Alejandro: Expect crossovers, nostalgia in family ‘In The Blood’ concert
Rachel says she is excited to perform with the family, in celebration of her 25 years in showbiz

MANILA, Philippines- Singer Rachel Alejandro said she is very excited for the family concert she will do together with her father Hajji, brother Ali and cousins Nino and Eddie at the Music Museum on November 15 and 29.

Called In the Blood, the concert will showcase the family at their best, singing and performing.

“I love performing with my family. Any reason to spend more time with the family because we are so busy. Kadalasan hindi kami nagkikita-kita (we don’t see each other often) so I thought, what is a better way to celebrate my 25 years than celebrate it kung saan ako nagsimula (where I started),” Rachel said during an interview with reporters at a press conference for the concert, Tuesday, October 28.

Rachel said the concert will also see the family explore other genres and a give viewers a peek into their lives. (READ: Rachel Alejandro: Music is in our DNA)

Lahat kumbaga papasiklab talaga etong Alejandro 5 where we are best. Plus yung mga musical genre namin at same time mag-cross over kami, like for instance mag-rock ang dad ko at sasayaw yung buong family.

“Ano yung mga kinalakihan naming musical, lahat iyon re-reminisce namin,” Rachel said.

(The whole Alejandro 5 will showcase what they do best. Plus our musical genres, and at the same time, we will cross-over like my dad, he will do rock and the whole family will dance. The musicals we grew up with – we’ll reminisce all that.)

For Hajji, the concert is also something to look forward to as he is also celebrating his long career in the industry.

This is the best time to do it because nag-cecelebrate si Rachel ng 25 years in business (Rachel is celebrating her 25 years in showbiz). I am actual in my 41st in showbiz if you include the first time na umakyat ako (I went up) onstage as a professional singer with Circus band, kami nila Basil Valdez nung 1973,” he said.

“It’s gonna be a really fun show. We all love to perform and hang out together as a family. We’re grateful for the chance to do what we love and spread some of that joy to our audiences.”

Both Rachel and Hajji will serve as the show’s concert directors.

Joining the Rachel and Hajji are Ali, Nino and Eddie, who are also in the music business. Aside from being a drummer in a band, Ali is also into contemporary art and performed with Rachel in her concert series at the Salon de Ning.

Eddie is a lead singer of the alternative rock band Aspen Way.

Nino is an accomplished singer/songwriter and music producer. He is also the vocalist of the rock band NATF. He recently starred in The Full Monty.
