Joe Jackson to throw lavish Brazilian birthday celebration
The father of the late Michael Jackson is throwing himself a big birthday bash

SAO PAULO, Brazil – Joe Jackson, the father of the late “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, turns 87 this week and he is marking the milestone with Brazilian flair – in the form of a $200,000 Sao Paulo fete.

Hundreds of revelers are expected at the party Sunday – which will include Samba dancers, Brazilian decor and local fare – hosted by the Nexxing marketing group.

“Join me on the 26th of July to celebrate 87 full years on earth. The greatest adventure you can take on this world, is to live your life and enjoy the ride,” Joe said on his website.

Local celebrities are also expected to join the festivities, with singers Ivete Sangalo and Claudia Leitte on the guest list, according to local Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper.

“It will be a classic, opulent celebration, with nothing American about it,” organizer Donatto Junior said, according to the newspaper.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 of an overdose of the clinical anesthetic propofol, administered by his doctor to help treat insomnia as the 50-year-old singer prepared for a series of concerts. – Rappler.com
